    Patient Care Services

Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our areas of patient care services include:

    Direct Admission

For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from extended care facilities, skilled nursing centers, physician offices and emergency rooms.

    Dialysis

Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of dialysis with comfort and dignity.

    Endoscopy

An endoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the digestive system, transmits images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum, allowing the physician to carefully examine the lining of these organs. Our endoscopy team works to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure.

    Pain Management

We feature a variety of treatments designed to ease pain conditions that may result from an accident, infection or sprain.

    Ventilator Weaning

For many patients, gaining the strength necessary to be weaned from prolonged mechanical ventilation requires that rehabilitation, continued medical treatment and weaning occur together. During this process, an interdisciplinary team works with the patient addressing deficits in motor function, cognition, nutrition and communication.

    Physicians

Our attending medical staff directs the patient’s treatment plan.  The physician coordinates laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service.  Kindred Hospital Atlanta has a medical staff of specialists in pulmonology/critical care, internal medicine, infectious disease, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, anesthesiology, nephrology, neurology and other specialty areas.

    Nursing

Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through the department of nursing, plans are developed to provide physical and emotional care in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines.

    Respiratory Therapists

Under the direction of the medical staff, our team of respiratory therapists evaluates, treats and manages patients with cardiopulmonary problems. They also provide preventive care.

    Radiology

Using advanced equipment, the radiology staff performs a variety of X-rays and diagnostic services that play an important role in diagnosing many illnesses.

    Surgical Services

Surgical services are available for patients requiring operative and other invasive procedures.

    Laboratory

Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any diagnostic studies that are ordered according to the treatment plan.

    Pharmacy

An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.

    Food Services and Nutrition Support

The goal of our registered dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The registered dietitian performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors the nutrition plan.  It is important to inform the registered dietitian of food preferences and any food allergies.

    Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists are an integral part of your rehabilitation process.  Under the direction of the physician, our team evaluates, treats and provides rehabilitation for muscular, skeletal, neurological and circulatory diseases.

    Occupational Therapy

The work of the occupational therapist helps promote independence in daily living skills such as feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming.  Our goal is to increase the patient’s strength, endurance and coordination.

    Speech Therapy

When required, a licensed speech and language pathologist provides therapy to improve speaking and swallowing skills as much as possible.

    Case Management Services

Every patient is assigned a case manager that will follow the patient from admission through discharge.  The case manager will assist the healthcare team in understanding the significance of social, economic, emotional, spiritual and family factors in relation to the patient's illness, treatment and recovery.  The case manager is available to assist with a number of services including, but not limited to the following: post hospital planning and referrals, advance directives, referrals for counseling and assistance with health insurance benefits.  The case manager serves as an advocate for the patient.

    Chaplain Services

There are chaplains on standby to assist the patient and family with any needs or concerns.  Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
